The Accokeek Foundation offers special tours for adult groups, scouts and other youth organizations, and active seniors. Through its colonial living history museum, organic farm, heritage breed animals, and gardens, the Accokeek Foundation provides a wealth of opportunities for a unique outdoor experience.

THE GARDENS TOUR
Enjoy a guided walk through our gardens. Learn about the vegetables and herbs grown in 18th century Maryland in the Kitchen Garden at the National Colonial Farm. In our Museum Garden discover how crops from Europe, Africa, and the Americas came together in colonial America, along the Potomac River in southern Maryland. Then find out about the importance of native plants to the ecosystem in the Pollinator Garden and the Rain Garden.
THE COLONIAL LIVING TOUR
Step back in time to 1775 and experience what life was like for the family of a middling tobacco planter. See the family home and learn from a costumed interpreter about the daily life and work of a colonial wife, from preparing meals to the processing and spinning of wool. Walk through the fields to the tobacco barn, and learn how the tobacco culture was changing on the eve of the American Revolution.

THE BARNYARD TOUR
Learn about heritage breed animals and the importance of genetic diversity. Meet our Red Devon cows, Hog Island sheep, Dominique chickens, Black Spanish turkeys, and Ossabaw hogs. See a team of oxen and greet our miniature donkey.
SUSTAINABLE FOOD AND FARMING
Where do agriculture, environment, energy, health, and community all come together? In the food we eat and in how we grow it! Visit the Ecosystem Farm, our certified organic, solar-powered demonstration farm, where we use innovative farming practices to overcome challenging agricultural conditions.
