The Accokeek Foundation is honored to have Dr. Robert Sutton, Superintendent of Manassas National Battlefield Park and Adjunct Professor in the History Department at George Mason University, as a speaker for its third lecture in the 2006 Robert Ware Straus Lecture Series. On Tuesday, May 16, Dr. Sutton will talk about the spread of Greek Revival architecture in the early to mid-1800s. Dr. Sutton will focus on the development of the style in the East and the Midwest, and the effect of the California Gold Rush on settlers building their "dream houses." The lecture will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Accokeek Foundation's Education Center. There is no charge for this event.
