Here's your chance to save money and help the environment! Collecting and reusing rainwater will save money on your water bill, and decrease the impact of runoff on our waterways.

Did you know? Every inch of rain that falls on 1,000 square feet yields 623 gallons of water. That's 623 gallons you can use in your garden for free! Conserving water also reduces the amount of water treated at water and sewage treatment plants, and decreases the amount of energy used to clean and pump more water.

Additionally, during a rain, roofs act as large funnels, channeling hundreds of gallons of water through gutters and downspouts, and eventually onto pavement. As the water travels, it picks up debris, oil and other pollutants, dumping them into our waterways, including the Chesapeake Bay.

Join us at the Foundation's Education Building on August 18th and take this first step to making water conservation a lifestyle choice. The workshop will be conducted by Jennifer Dotson of the Interstate Commission on the Potomac River Basin and will cover installation, maintenance, and landscaping. Registration is required by August 3rd. You may register for the workshop even if you decide not to purchase a barrel (cost $80).
