The Accokeek Foundation is pleased to offer "Conservation Landscaping with Watershed-Wise Gardens" Workshop. This season, sink your spade into the soil with Bay-wise alternatives in mind. There are a plethora of options when planning gardens that are watershed-wise. We will explore xeriscapes, hummingbird gardens, native meadows, and butterfly gardens. Participants will learn about soil, light, and water needs of select plants. Participants will also see how they can decrease their lawn space, increase soil, attract pollinators, reduce storm water runoff, and improve soil structure.
"We must all consider ourselves stewards of the Chesapeake Bay and of the waterways that surround us. There are so many options available to us, beneficial to the Bay, and wildlife," says Kathy Talbot, Manager of Special Events and Training at the Accokeek Foundation. Join us on Saturday, May 31st, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. to learn how you can make a positive impact on the health of our watershed.
Please contact Kathy Talbot at ktalbot@accokeek.org or at 301.283.2113 to register. Please note that children must be accompanied by an adult.
