Wish List

The Accokeek Foundation is a member-supported, nonprofit organization, originally founded to help preserve the view from Mount Vernon, as it was in George Washington's time.

Your tax-deductible contribution supports our multi-faceted educational programs in history, ecology, and agriculture that serve thousands of school children and visitors annually. You'll also be supporting research, enhancement and maintenance of the 18th century National Colonial Farm; maintenance of hiking trails and the fishing pier; preservation of various heritage breed animals; and the research and work of the Ecosystem Farm, a model of organic and sustainable agriculture.

We are currently looking for items in the following categories:

"Green":
Plants/modular components for green roof installation on Education Center
Rain barrels for rainwater capture
Plants, flowers, bushes, trees for use in the Fall 2007 landscaping project

Colonial Farm:
Monthly foodways program supplies
Period dress for colonial interpreter
Museum Theater Internship stipend
Sponsorship for African American Heritage Day Performance

Livestock Program:
Permanent fencing
Halters
Feeders

Public Programs:
Tables and chairs for events and special programs
Tent rentals for events
Tabletop display for education programs
Refrigerator for Bait and Tackle
Benches for visitors

Technology:
Satellite dish for internet access
Replacement color laser printer cartridges
Digital video camera
Wireless telephone headset
Portable projector for education programs
