Boating and Fishing

The pier is popular with local fishermen.

A newly reconstructed public fishing pier and riverside path provide visitors with scenic views along the edge of the Potomac River and a beautiful view of Mount Vernon. Fishermen are asked to sign in at the Visitor Center.

The Foundation's boat dock was rendered unusable by weather damage, forcing the cancellation of our popular seasonal boat tours of the Potomac River and ferry service to Mount Vernon. We are in the process of acquiring funding for rebuilding and expanding the boat dock. The completed project will have several transient boat slips to accommodate area boaters and will also be Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant.
