About the event
Attend this start-of-the-season training to learn how to become a Bluebird Monitor volunteer with the Accokeek Foundation. Bluebird Monitor Volunteers protect Piscataway Park's bluebird nest boxes from pests and predators, while also collecting important data on egg and hatchling numbers.
Volunteers will be trained to monitor bluebirds throughout the bluebird season (March-October). The training will include information on trail safety, bird and nest identification, data collection, and nest box care and maintenance. There will be an opportunity to walk the Bluebird Trail and visit all of the park's nest boxes during the training.
This training is open to both current Bluebird Monitor volunteers and those interested in learning more about the volunteer program.
